over 140 years of law enforcement history...
From 1881 when Henry Garfias was elected as the city’s first Marshal, the city of Phoenix has strived to protect and serve its citizens. The Phoenix Police Department has been at the forefront of law enforcement since its inception and has a long and historically significant past.
Legislative & Political Issues
One of the primary objectives of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association is to protect the interest of Phoenix Police Officers. Look here for some of the law-enforcement-related city ordinances that were introduced and are were monitored by PLEA both here in Phoenix and at the state level that affect us.
President’s Message
As President of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association, it is my privilege to represent the men and women who serve our city with dedication, courage, and integrity. Every day, our members put themselves on the line to protect the people of Phoenix, often facing challenges that most will never see or fully understand.
At PLEA, our mission is simple: to advocate for our officers, to ensure their voices are heard, and to support them so they can better serve our community. We believe that when officers are supported, trained, and treated with fairness, the entire city benefits.
We also know that trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the community are essential. That’s why PLEA is committed not only to standing up for our members, but also to strengthening the bond between police and the people we serve. Whether through charitable initiatives, community outreach, or honest conversations about the issues facing Phoenix, we are working together to build bridges and find solutions.
I am proud of our history, proud of our service, and proud of the difference our officers make each day. On behalf of the PLEA Board of Trustees and the nearly 2,000 officers we represent, thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Darrell Kriplean
President, Phoenix Law Enforcement Association
A Memorial to our fallen heroes...
Arizona honors fallen peace officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice at the annual Peace Officers Memorial Service at the Arizona State Capitol. Families and survivors of the fallen heroes are welcome the annual event to pay tribute. The somber ceremony, led by the Arizona Peace Officers Memorial Board, is held in Wesley Bolin Plaza at the Peace Officer Memorial.
